9/11 happened to all of us, but it lives within each of us differently; a moment in time defined by where we were, what we saw, who we lost, and how it forever changed us.
Twenty-five years later, Eric and Kari dedicate this episode of Second Shift to the stories we carry from September 11, 2001. They begin by remembering where they were when America came under attack and discussing a difficult reality: for thousands of first responders, the toll of 9/11 didn't end when the fires went out.
The centerpiece of this episode belongs to Josh Hartman, who shares his firsthand story of September 11. In his own words, Josh takes us back to that day, what he witnessed, what he experienced, the moments that have stayed with him for 25 years, and what he wants today's generation of first responders to understand.
Eric, Kari, and Josh also confront an increasingly important question: What does “Never Forget” mean when an entire generation of EMS providers wasn't yet alive on September 11?
